A young, highly intelligent Black professional I was coaching the other day expressed concerns about sharing their perspective and suggesting new methods of approaching tasks, fearing that recent DEI changes might lead to their expertise being undervalued and ignored.
In the evolving landscape of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), it’s essential to remember that progress doesn’t always follow a straight path. To all people of color navigating these changes, I want to remind you that your authenticity is your greatest strength.
No matter the shifts in policies or the challenges that arise, your unique perspectives and experiences are invaluable.
Continue to embrace and celebrate who you are. Your voice matters, your stories matter, and your true self is a powerful force for positive change. Stay resilient, stay proud, and continue to shine brightly. The journey towards true equity is ongoing, and your authenticity is a crucial part of this transformation.
To be clear…do not switch back to another code. Do not change your physical appearance. Do not hesitate to share your opinion, question an approach or shy away from advancing in your career. DO NOT dim your light.
BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY you…still!
